Roger M. Elliott, 62, of West Point died at 9:14 P.M. Friday July 29, 2016 at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington after a year and a half battle with cancer. He was born March 12, 1954 in Keosauqua to Philip H. and Irma Stecker Elliott and married Lucy Burke July 21, 1973 in Harrisburg Baptist Church.
Roger grew up in Harrisburg Township north of Bonaparte and graduated from Harmony High School and Southeaster Community College with a degree in auto mechanics. He and Lucy lived in Northern California, primarily in Glen Ellen from 1985 until they returned to southeast Iowa in 2000. They assumed ownership of Elliott’s Service in Bonaparte in 2001 which they continue to operate. Roger was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church and National Rifle Association and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are his wife, two sons, Gabe Elliott (Caroline) of Santa Rosa, CA and Spencer Elliott (Laura) of Sonoma, CA, a daughter, Cassie Stone (Brett) of Napa, CA, five grandchildren, his mother, Irma Elliott and a sister, Karen Burwash both of Bonaparte, other relatives and many friends. His father preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday August 5, 2016 in Harrisburg Baptist Church, north of Bonaparte with Pastors Mark Caston and David Glavin officiating. Burial will in Vale Cemetery east of the church. Visitation will open at 2 P.M. Thursday with family present 5-7 P.M. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua. Gifts to a memorial to be designated later by the family may be left at the funeral home or church or mailed to the family at 2493 Henry Lee Street, West Point, IA 52656.
