Cathrine “Cathy” Newman, 63 of Keosauqua died Sunday April 11, 2021, at her home in Keosauqua. As were Cathy’s wishes, her body has been cremated. A time to celebrate Cathy’s life and share stories with the family will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua. The family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. A celebration of life to honor Cathy will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Cathy’s honor
may be directed to Keosauqua Ferguson Sports Complex or Keosauqua Fire Department; and may be brought to the visitation or mailed to the family at 801 Division Street, Keosauqua, IA 52565. Friends may leave online condolences at

Cathy was born on November 19, 1957 in Keosauqua to Gary and Mary (Regur) Muir. Cathy married Kit Newman in 1976 in Keosauqua. Cathy graduated from Van Buren High School in 1976. Cathy had worked as the Deputy City Clerk for the
City of Keosauqua and retired in 2021. She was a member Keosauqua United Methodist Church, loved flowers, gardening, and music. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed anything the Iowa Hawkeyes were playing. Cathy welcomed
many guests into their home, her motto was “The Newman Bar is Always Open”. Her greatest passion in life was her family. Most of all, her grandchildren were the center of her world.
Cathy was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Muir. Left to share her story are her husband, Kit of Keosauqua, two daughters, Bridgette (Clint) Cochran of North Liberty and Courtney (Andrew) Lowery of Keosauqua, her father, Gary Muir of Keosauqua, three sisters, Cindy (David) White of Fairfield, Jayne (Richard) McLain of Keosauqua, and Teresa (Todd) Watkins of Coralville, a sister-in-law, Pat (John) Van Lenning of Belmond, six grandchildren, Reece, Harper and Carson Cochran and Kane, Finley and Kasen Lowery, and several nieces and nephews.
