Rhonda Kay Johnson, 61, of Oskaloosa, died at 6:43 p.m. June 2, 2021 at her home.
She was born May 24, 1960 in Ottumwa to Donald Dean and Marcine Aletha McElroy Coltrain. Rhonda married David D. Johnson on July 26, 1980 and he preceded her in death on October 18, 2014.
A 1978 graduate of Ottumwa High School, she had attended Vernard College. Rhonda had worked as a cook at various long-term facilities including Homestead Assisted Living in Oskaloosa, retiring in 2019.
Rhonda enjoyed woodworking, gardening and her music.
Surviving is her companion, Steve “Pete” Sherman; her daughters, Leticia Johnson Downing of Albia and Renee (Cody) Malloy of Oskaloosa; 7 grandchildren, Elijah, Mackenzie, Zach, Levi, Gavin, Tucker and Braxton; a great-granddaughter, Alayana; her mother, Marcine Coltrain; and sisters, Robin Kephart of Jamestown, TN and Peni (Albert) Davis of University Park.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Her body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time.
