Tony Yencsik

Tony Yencsik, 67, of Ottumwa, died at 2:26 p.m. June 6, 2021 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
He was born June 7, 1953 in Ottumwa to Joseph and Peggy Fiorino Yencsik.

A 1972 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Tony attended Kirkwood Community College. He enjoyed participating in 4-H. He owned and operated Tony’s Flowers on Church Street beginning in 1974 having been in business over 40 years. He had worked at several other places, most recently at KIIC radio in Albia.

Tony had been a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, had served on the Mayor’s Advisory Board, Southern Iowa Mental Health Center Board, American Home Finding Association Board, had been a member of Ottumwa Symphony Board, Ottumwa Municipal Band, South Ottumwa Boosters, Ottumwa Chamber of Commerce, and helped with Evans Junior High Marching Band for 12 years.

Surviving is his mother, Peggy (Frank) Amos of Ottumwa; his father, Joe Yencsik of Ottumwa; his sister, Nancy Iiams of Lone Tree, CO; two nieces, Krissy Iiams and Julia Iiams; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his three dogs, Juju, Nina and Minelli.

Visitation will be open for friends from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 8th at Reece Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday June 9th at Reece Funeral Home. For those unable to attend you may view the service on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to American Home Finding Association or Southern Iowa Mental Health Center in Ottumwa.
