Walter S. Dimmitt, 82, of Ottumwa, died at 3:15 p.m. June 7, 2021 at his home.
He was born September 20, 1938 to Glenn O. and Ruth Jauineta Brown Dimmitt.
A 1956 graduate of Agency High School, Walter opened Wapello County Grain in 1972 and also was a farmer.
Walter served on the board of the Wapello County Rural Fire Department. He enjoyed collecting toy tractors and especially enjoyed watching his grandkids.
Surviving are his children, Patrick (Becky) Dimmitt of Ottumwa and Ruth Dimmitt of Ponca City, OK; two grandchildren, Zach Luedtke and Hunter Dimmitt.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wyman Dimmitt.
Visitation will be open at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 10th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 11th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
