Reva Ellen Gilliland, 79, of Ottumwa, died at 4:58 p.m. February 9, 2022 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
She was born October 3, 1942 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Marvin A. and Vera E. Schertz McGhee. Reva married Gary Gilliland on July 28, 1962 and he preceded her in death on May 24, 2011.
A graduate of Cardinal High School, Reva had worked as a teacher’s aide in the Ottumwa schools and as a CNA at Ridgewood Specialty Care.
She was a member of First Baptist Church. Reva enjoyed sewing, crocheting, making memorial teddy bears and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughters, Andrea (Russ) Bombei of Sigourney and Missy (Tony) Garrett of Ottumwa; six grandchildren, Kyle, Sabrina, Victoria and Leya Garrett, Sarah and Samantha Bombei; two great-grandchildren, Andrew Brasher and Paisleigh Ryan; three sisters, Cleo Giltner of Ottumwa, Kathryn Irwin of Estherville and Nancy Rifenberry of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Wayne and Harold McGhee and sister, Shirley Fogle.
Visitation will be open at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 16th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, February 17th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Lentz officiating. For those unable to attend the service, it may be viewed live on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Cremation will follow the services.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or Heartland Humane Society.
