OTTUMWA-Keith D. Korell, 90, of Ottumwa, died at 8:49 p.m. October 2, 2016 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.

He was born September 25, 1926 in Danville, IA to Ray and Grace Fern Brandmeyer Korell.  He married Betty Jane Paris on October 9, 1945 and they later divorced.  He married Margaret Lucille Gray on September 25, 1970 and she preceded him in death on July 3, 1990.

A 1944 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Keith had served with the U.S. Army during World War II.  He lived in Ottumwa until 1971 when he moved to Burlington, returning to Ottumwa in 2014.

He had worked for Iowa Southern Utilities and Electric Union #13 as switchboard operator, lineman and electrician.

He was a member of First Methodist Church in Burlington, a 50 year member of Empire Masonic Lodge #269 A.F. & A.M.,  a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles  Aerie #150, Moose Lodge #579,  American Legion Post #52 and a member of IBEW for 70 years.

Keith enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge and Pinochle.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda Sue Korell Smith of Boise, ID and Connie Lynn Korell (Don) Jones of Ottumwa; 11 grandchildren, Amy Smith (Dale) Brown, Brian (Taniya) Smith, Carrie Smith, Stacy Courtney (Lonny) Matheney, Jeremy (Alicia) Long, Jason (Elizabeth) Long, David (Rose) Anderson, Sarah Anderson (Tony) Aguilar, Sarah Orman (Matthew) Eakins, Jennifer (Jeff) Smart, Donald (Felicia) Jones II;  31 great-grandchildren;  two step-daughters, Lynda Sue (Larry) Anderson of Honolulu, HI and Jane Orman (John) Cardenzana of Ottumwa; nieces, nephews and a special and helpful friend Marjorie “Marge” Breuer of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Don Korell; a sister, Doris Pence; a step-daughter, Lynda Sue Anderson; two great-grandsons, Brandon Smith and Brett Matheney; and  two sons-in-law, Neil Smith and Steve Chandler.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Skinner officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday.  A Masonic service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Timber Ridge Assisted Living.
