Carlta Elaine Conrad, 82, a resident of Ottumwa, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
There will be no services held at this time. Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield is assisting with arrangements.
Carlta was born August 24, 1942 in Orange, California, the daughter of Carlton and Edna (Warner) Conrad. She received a degree in music and worked as a secretary for Orange Coast College in California.
Carlta lived in Huntington Beach, California for most of her life until moving to Iowa to retire in 1999. She was an avid reader; enjoyed counted cross stitch; and was a wonderful musician playing all of the brass instruments. She taught private music lessons on brass instruments. Carlta was a foster grandma with the Grandparent Program for 18 years at Ottumwa Community School District.
Carlta is survived by her good friend, Ruth Buck of Ottumwa, and many other wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
