Wanda Potter, 88, of Moulton, Iowa passed away on October 18, 2024 at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield, Iowa. She was born on January 7, 1936 in Moulton to Ralph and Bernice Daniels Pettis. On December 28, 1954 she married Gerald David Potter in Kirksville, Missouri. They enjoyed 68 wonderful years together before his passing on March 28, 2023.
Wanda and Gerald owned and operated Potter’s Dairy Queen and Potter’s Trading Post in Moulton for many years. She was also a proud homemaker and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In her younger days, she enjoyed dancing with Gerald and listening to country music. The couple also spent many hours going to auctions and antique sales together. Wanda had a special touch with her flowers and enjoyed planting them each year. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Pamela Burton, Wesley Potter (Mary Lawson), Janet (Charlie) Davis, Doss (Belinda) Potter; five grandchildren, Melia Piper (Ben Jones), Jerilyn (Richard) Lasley, Samantha (Travis) Campbell, Natalie (Kalen) Martsching, Chloe Potter; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Charles Potter; brother, John Pettis; and two sisters, Wilma Strickler, Shirley Dawson.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at the Sunset View Cemetery in Moulton with Pastor Brian Hargrave officiating. After the service, the family will be meeting for lunch at the Moulton Crossline Center and everyone is invited. No visitation is planned.
