Burley John Ward, 60, of Wichita, KS died October 25, 2024 at his home.
He was born February 5, 1964 in Tempe, AZ to Eli E. and Janet Mae Tillotson Ward. He married Carrie Carlson February 14, 1999 and she preceded him death June 14, 2015.
A 1982 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Burley received an AAS degree in electronics from Indian Hills Community College. He had worked as an electronics technician in Anamosa, IA, Tampa, FL, Des Moines, Kansas City and for Collins Aeronautics in Wichita, KS.
Being a mental strategist, he enjoyed designing and playing games and writing books.
Surviving is his father, Eli Ward of Ottumwa; siblings, Jennie (Malvin) Johnson, of Johnston, Graham Ward of Ottumwa, Cedric Ward of Lena, WI, Norman (Connie) Ward of Ottumwa, Molly Coltrain of Ames, Reggie Ward of Centerville; a sponsored daughter, Ariane Jane Sagusara-Mapula.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Ward and bother-in-law, Scott Coltrain.
Visitation will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday November 1st at Reece Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday November 2nd at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Maquoketa, IA. The family will be present to greet friends 1 hour prior to the service.
