Delbert LeMoyne Pouder, 86, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on November 7, 2024 at the Bloomfield Care Center. He was born on June 12, 1938 in Rock Island, Illinois to Fred Harry and Gladys Alberta Hays Pouder. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Army where he proudly served for three years. After his honorable discharge, Delbert worked on the railroad; first for the Rock Island Line and later for Burlington Northern. During retirement, Delbert worked as a painter and at the Mutchler Center in Bloomfield.
Delbert married Sandra Perrin in 1964. The couple raised four children; Kevin, Tim, Deb, and Mary. Delbert and Sandra would later divorce.
Delbert loved spending time with his family, working on the railroad, and bowling. He was a 40-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous where he touched many lives as a sponsor. The weekly meetings were never missed and he truly enjoyed helping people. Delbert also really enjoyed working at the Mutchler Center. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by three children, Kevin (Nancy) Pouder of Hereford, Arizona, Tim Pouder of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Mary (Danny) Dunlavy of Bloomfield; seven grandchildren, Kami (Ryan) Leonard, Melisa Nishi, Chris Pouder, Kenny (Taylor) Pouder, Courtney (Kate Lyon) Reyes, Sullivan (Andy Daugherty) Dunlavy, Sheridan (Lincoln) Joos; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Deb Thordarson; three brothers, Richard, Ronald, and Dennis; and two sisters, Vicki Pouder and one in infancy.
Visitation for Delbert will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12, with the family present to greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. A committal service and burial with military honors will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery on Wednesday, November 13, at noon. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Hospice of Wapello and Davis Counties.
