It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of David Lee Lobberecht on January 11, 2025. He was born on April 19, 1966, in Oskaloosa, IA to Fred and Theola (Maloy) Lobberecht. David was a charismatic and loving figure whose life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family and his profound love for nature. David was a beacon of support and warmth to all who knew him, radiating love and compassion in everything he did. David resided in New Sharon, Iowa, for twelve years, where he shared a strong marriage filled with adventure and travel with his beloved spouse Cassie since June 30, 2001. His talent extended beyond his occupation in the chop saw department at Pella Corporation, where his industrious nature and witty personality made him a cherished member of the team. While David was not formally employed at the time of his passing, he found immense joy in his hobbies, which were a testament to his love for life and the natural world. Woodworking, gardening, and yard work were among his favorite pursuits, along with mushroom hunting. He had a special fondness for raising birds, caring for a diverse range including chickens, ducks, geese, peacocks, quail, pheasant, and more. His dedication to these activities embodied his nurturing spirit and his unwavering capacity to find beauty in all forms of life. David’s life was a testament to the values that mattered most to him: faith, family and love. He was a pillar of strength and support for his loved ones, always there with a helping hand and a kind word. His charisma was contagious, spreading joy and laughter wherever he went. His legacy is one of love, kindness, and an enduring connection with the natural world, which will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his wife, Cassie Lobberecht of New Sharon; children, Ethan Lobberecht of Altoona, Peyton Lobberecht of Beacon; Ian Lobberecht of Newton, Keiffer Griego of Des Moines, Adam (Sarah) Lobberecht of University Park, Olivia (Spencer) Kirk of Cedar Falls; grandchildren; Avery Vine, Gohan Griego, Broly Griego, Venus Griego, Brinley Lobberecht; siblings, Shirley Hynick, Fred Lobberecht, Mike (Lori) Lobberecht, Shelly Lobberecht. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Theola Lobberecht; grandchildren, Ellie and one other waiting for him in heaven; siblings, Gary Lobberecht, Steve Lobberecht, Tricia Schlotter; nephews, Michael Lobberecht, Kyler Schaper, Blake Nichols; father-in-law, Gene Whitsel, brother-in-law, Richard Hynick. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, opening to the public at 3:00 pm, with family present from 5-7 pm at the Eddyville Celebrate Life Center. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am, on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the Eddyville Celebrate Life Center. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery in Eddyville. Memorials may be directed to the family.
