JOYCE PLOSS
OTTUMWA-Joyce Ploss, 78, of Ottumwa, died at 12:02 p.m. January 2, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
She was born August 7, 1938 in Ottumwa to William Edward and Margaret Lucille Wilson Peters. She married Melvin Ploss on October 2, 1965 and he preceded her in death on February 22, 1995.
Joyce was a 1956 graduate of Ottumwa High School and had worked for 10 years in bookkeeping at F.W. Woolworth and for 32 years at Easter’s/Econo Foods.
She attended St. Patrick Catholic Church. Joyce enjoyed bowling, reading and sewing and especially loved watching her son and grandsons play baseball.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan Woten and Peggy Wilson; a son, Tom Ploss (Karen Miller); 6 grandchildren, Caleb and Cooper Woten, Steven and Ethan Wilson, Ashley McDaniel and River Ploss; two great-grandchildren, Bladen Reinier and Ledger Dodson; two brothers, Thomas (Kathy) Peters and William (Teresa) Peters Jr.; several nieces and nephews and close friend, Connie Solomon.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Michaele Ploss; a sister, Susan Poncy; a brother, Edward Peters and a special aunt, Marthana Peters.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Father Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be in the Eldon Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Friday with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.
