Abdul Rene Alvarado, 17 of Ottumwa, died May 4, 2025 at his home.
He was born July 19, 2007 in Austin, MN to Rene and Josefina Prado Alvarado.
Moving to Ottumwa at age 4, Abdul was currently a senior at Ottumwa High School. The night before he died, he was very happy to have attended his senior prom.
He attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Ottumwa Congregation. Abdul enjoyed reading especially Ready Player One and watching movies such as the Jurassic Park trilogies and Five Nights at Freddy’s. He also enjoyed playing chess with his father, playing the clarinet in the school band and spending time with his cat, Ginger.
Surviving are his parents, Rene and Josefina Alvarado of Ottumwa; a sister, Melanie Suzette Alvarado; a brother, Jared Alvarado; grandfather, Heraclio Alvarado and grandmother, Ernestina Acosta.
He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Marianita Avalos and grandfather, Joseluis Prado.
Visitation will be open after 1 p.m. Friday, May 9th at Reece Funeral Home with his family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10th at Reece Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the service
