Lisa Elaine Phillips, 56, of Ottumwa, died June 22, 2025 at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
She was born October 24, 1968 in Ottumwa to Max L. Garr Sr. and Connie Tennison Garr. Lisa married Richard “J.R.” LaVerne Phillips on September 2, 1988 and he preceded her in death on March 25, 2017.
A 1987 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Lisa had worked as a waitress at various restaurants including Heady’s and J.B.’s. She had also worked at Good Samaritan and Pioneer as well as recently having worked at TENCO.
Lisa loved watching her family race and especially loved being with her family and her animals.
Surviving are her sons, Codey (Tiffany) Phillips and Dakota Phillips both of Ottumwa; 2 grandchildren, Bella and Racelyn; several siblings including, Buddy (Crystal) Garr and Laurie Durflinger; her mother, Connie Ashby, her mother-in-law, Constance Phillips; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Max Garr Sr.; father-in-law, Richard Phillips Sr. and step-father, Glenn Ashby.
Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 27th, at Reece Funeral Home.
Private graveside services and burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with Chaplain Doug McAntire officiating.
Memorials may be made to the family.
