RON CLARK

OTTUMWA-Ronald L. Clark, 72, of 360 Lynwood, died at 6:58 p.m. March 13, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

He was born August 3, 1944 in Ottumwa to Arthur Monroe and Lillian Geraldine Burtlow Clark.  He married Janice Knox on October 1, 1966.

Ron served with the U.S. Army during Vietnam.

He enjoyed Harley Davidsons, fishing, playing Uno and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and their activities.

Ron worked for 30 years at John Deere Ottumwa Works, he then worked as a security guard at Super 8 and for Lewis Systems as an armed guard, retiring in 2009.

He was a member of the Church of the Brethren.  Ron served on the original board of the Ottumwa Girls Softball League and coached both of his daughters’ teams.

Surviving is his wife, Jan; two daughters, Lori (Shawn) Williamson of Houston, TX and Angie (Koree) Strong of Ottumwa; a son, Sean (Kysha) Clark of Ottumwa; 4 grandchildren, Tyler Hatfield, Kaelyn Strong, Ashlee Strong and Brody Clark; and a sister, Pam (Mark) VanEssen of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Paulette Clark.

His body has been cremated.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.

Visitation with the family present will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.
