Dale W. Roberts, 96, of Bloomfield, formerly of Milton, died at 7:42 a.m. Tuesday July 11, 2017, in the emergency room of Davis County Hospital, Bloomfield. He was born September 17, 1920, at Green, Kansas to Charles and Opal Walker Roberts and moved as a boy with his family to Milton where he graduated from high school. He worked in a shipyard in California and served in the U.S. Navy during the World War II e-day during World War II. Dale married Vivian Campbell July 5, 1942, in Las Vegas, Nevada and they lived most of their married life in Milton.
“Pete” as he was known to his friends built a new service station in Milton and operated a Standard Oil bulk route until he retired. He was a member of the former Grace United Methodist Church and Russell-Strait Post No. 483, American Legion. In retirement, the Roberts’s lived in Ottumwa and the past several years in Bloomfield.
Remaining to cherish his memory is his wife, two sons, Allen Roberts (Connie) of Omaha Nebraska and Ted Roberts (Deb) of Milton, a grandson, Jeffrey Roberts of Omaha, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Roberts and a sister, Marceille Hudson.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Friday July 14, 2017, at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with Rev. ellis andrews officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton with military honors by Russell-Strait Legion Post. Visitation will open at 3 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home with family present 6-7 P.M. Memorials to Russell-Strait Post may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 204 East Old Main Street, Milton, IA 52570.
