  BARBARA JEAN DYER

OTTUMWA – Barbara Jean Dyer, 84, of 130 Hill Ave., died at 7:01 p.m. August 26, 2017 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

She was born January 7, 1933 in Ottumwa to Harry D. and Hazel I. Peterson Roberts.  She married James Louis Costello June 22, 1957 and he preceded her in death February 13, 1968.  She married Ronald Eugene Dyer August 29, 1977.

A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1951, she moved to Chicago in 1955.  She worked for Western Electric in Chicago until 1973 when she moved back to Ottumwa.  She was a full-time Tupperware dealer for over 30 years.

Barbara Jean was a member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene where she held many positions including church secretary.  She deeply loved her church family.  She was also the secretary for Women’s Relief Corps Cloutman #24 of Ottumwa.

Surviving is her husband, Ron; a son, Tom (Natalie) Costello of London, England; two grandchildren, J.D. and Anna Costello; three step-daughters, Celeste (David) Peterson of Ottumwa, Judy (Brian) Peachey and Becky Dyer both of Arkansas; a step-son, Steven Dyer of Ottumwa; 10 step- grandchildren; 10 step-great grandchildren; a sister, Eileen Post of Ottumwa; two brothers, Larry Roberts of Albia and Laris Roberts of Warden, MT; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Charlene Ellis and Carol Faye Percell.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Church of the Nazarene.
