GRACE HUBBELL
OTTUMWA – Grace Adelle Hubbell, 84, of Ottumwa, died September 2, 2017 at SunnyBrook in Muscatine.
She was born May 30, 1933 in Lafayette County, Missouri to Donald and Adellia Leweke Derby. She married Billie K. Hubbell April 16, 1955. He preceded her in death on October 28, 2002.
A graduate of Ollie High School in 1950 and St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1953, Grace worked as a Registered Nurse at McNeal Memorial in Berwyn, Illinois, Keokuk County Hospital, Ottumwa Hospital and Southeast Iowa Blood Center. In addition, she taught at Indian Hills Community College.
Grace was a member of North Court Baptist Church.
Surviving are five sons, Allen (Judy) Hubbell of West Lafayette, IN, Thomas D. Hubbell (Paul Van Ryswyk) of Ankeny, Steven (Joanne) Hubbell of Muscatine, Mark (Barb) Hubbell of Iowa City and Scott (Mary) Hubbell of Ottumwa; three grandchildren, Adam (Lindsay) Hubbell of Ottumwa, Stephanie (David) Jacobs of Mt. Pleasant and Jennifer Hubbell of Cedar Falls; four great grandchildren, Kaden, Dalana, Logan and Jackson Hubbell; a brother Oscar (Phyllis) Derby of Elwood, IL.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Leigh Hubbell and a brother Oran Derby.
Her body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Hemmings officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Court Baptist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
