JOE LUCKIESH

OTTUMWA-Joseph M. “Joe” Luckiesh, 94, formerly of Ottumwa, died September 17, 2017 at Bethany Life in Story City. IA.

He was born July 31, 1923 in Weston, IA to Matt and Ellen Yocum Luckiesh.  He married Louella M. Tabler on August 18, 1947.

Joe was a graduate of McClelland High School in McClelland.  He was a World War II veteran serving with the U.S. Army in the Philippines.  Joe worked for the Milwaukee Railroad retiring in 1962 as assistant road master.

He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church where he had served as an Elder.

Surviving is his wife, Louella; his children, Joella (Paul) Smith of Tyler, TX, Mark (Shirley) Luckiesh of Waterloo, Clifford Luckiesh of Quartzville, AZ and Bennett (Colleen) Luckiesh of Nelsonville, OH; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Collins of Shenandoah.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Luckiesh and a sister, Pearl Bingston

His body has been cremated.

Military services will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion at 4 p.m. Friday September 29, 2017 at Reece Funeral Home, followed by visitation with the family present until 6 p.m.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday October 1, 2017 at the Bethany Life Chapel at Bethany Life in Story City, IA.

Memorials may be made to the Ottumwa Seventh-day Adventist Church or Parkinson’s Research.
