HOWARD LAPOINT
OTTUMWA – Howard E. LaPoint, 80, of 211 S. Hancock died at 12:53 a.m. October 29, 2017 at Ridgewood Specialty Care in Ottumwa.
He was born February 5, 1937 in Ottumwa to Paul and Juanita McKitrick LaPoint. He married Margaret “Cec” Staton on September 19, 1959.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1955, he enjoyed model airplanes, country, gospel and bluegrass music and NASCAR races.
Surviving is his wife, Margaret “Cec”; four sons, Paul LaPoint of Walnut, Robert (Paula), Mike (Ricki) and Jerry (Marie) LaPoint all of Ottumwa; ten grandchildren; eleven great- grandchildren; two brothers, Dick (Christena) and John LaPoint both of Ottumwa; three sisters, Glenda (Grady) Stephens of Gilbert, LA, Vi LaPoint of Eldon, MO and Willa (Ron) Stanley of Hedrick.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marilyn McLaughlin and Jerri LaPoint.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with family visitation from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Richard Schlotter officiating.
Cremation will follow the services.
