DAVID LOWE
OTTUMWA – David Michael Lowe, 62, of Ottumwa, died at 10:30 a.m. December 9, 2017 at Vista Woods Care Center.
He was born June 23, 1955 in Centerville to Wilbur and Jorene Houdesheldt Lowe. He married Melody Michele Foster on June 9, 1978.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1974, he earned his Machinist Certificate from Indian Hills Community College.
He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad, Diamond Cabinets, as the Assistant Manager and Manager for the Ottumwa circulation of the Des Moines Register and at Pizza Hut delivery.
David was a member of Empire Masonic Lodge #269 A.F. & A.M. and Davenport Consistory. Involved in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, he was Cub Master for Pack #11 and worked as an Assistant Troup Leader with Troup #26 as well as held his Wood Badge Designation.
He enjoyed playing Santa for the Heartland Humane Society Santa Paws for several years.
Surviving is his wife, Melody; two children, David Ryan Lowe and Katherine Lowe, both of Ottumwa; four grandchildren, Daegen, Maddison, Lilly and Lydia Lowe; a brother, Alan (Diane) Lowe of Riverside, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Dan Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, IA.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday. A Masonic Service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday followed by visitation with the family present until 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Heartland Humane Society.
