Louella Luckiesh

Louella M. Luckiesh, 92, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 10:53 p.m. January 17, 2018 at Bethany Life in Story City, IA.

She was born April 20, 1925 in Council Bluffs, IA to Clyde and Myrle Middleton Tabler.  She married Joseph M. Luckiesh on August 18, 1947 and he preceded her in death on September 17, 2017.

Louella was a graduate of McClelland High School.    During World War II she assembled ammunition shells for a company in Oregon.  She later worked as a Nurse Aide and also did photo touchup for Jim Noble’s Skyline Studio in Harlan, IA.  She enjoyed studying her Bible, restoring old dolls and sewing doll clothes.

She was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ottumwa.

Surviving are her children, Joella (Paul) Smith of Tyler, TX, Mark (Shirley) Luckiesh of Waterloo, IA, Clifford Luckiesh of Quartzsite, AZ and Bennett (Colleen) Luckiesh of Nelsonville, OH; 6 grandchildren, Ann (Brian) Squier, Michael Coon, Jonathan (Koral) Coon, Philip (Tara) Coon, Joseph “Joe” Luckiesh and John (Maegan) Luckiesh; 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, a daughter, Bonnie Luckiesh, a sister, Alice Penner, and 3 brothers, Roger Tabler, Carl Tabler, and Bruce Tabler.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2018 at Ottumwa Seventh-day Adventist Church  with  Pastor Abel Hagan and Pastor Nathan Cranston officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be open at 10 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to:  Bethany Life Chaplaincy for Today Fund (Story City, IA), or the Ottumwa Seventh-day Adventist Church.
