Doug Slycord, 56, of Oskaloosa passed away Monday, April 23, 2018, at his home in Oskaloosa.
Douglas Jay Slycord, son of Willard Levi and Rita Louise (Hughes) Slycord, was born October 23, 1961, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Doug grew up in Oskaloosa where he attended school. He married Melinda Walker, they later divorced. He worked as a security guard at Cargill for 27 years and retired in 2008 because of his health. He enjoyed Hawkeye sports and hunting coons with his father-in-law.
Doug’s family includes his sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Robert Medlin of Oskaloosa; a brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Veral Slycord of Adel, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by two brothers: Allan and Craig Slycord; a niece, Julie Handy; and a nephew, Eric Slycord.
