Jack Fosdyck

Jack R. Fosdyck, 79, of Ottumwa, died at 5:45 p.m. August 7, 2018 at Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield.

He was born March 6, 1939 in Ottumwa to Clarence and LaVonna Best Fosdyck.  He married Betty J. Carnes on September 27, 1958 and she preceded him in death on October 24, 2011.

Jack had served with the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked for 38 years for Norris Asphalt, retiring in February 2004 as plant foreman.

Jack had a passion for racing, having helped multiple drivers including his son win numerous races.  He enjoyed gardening and canning.

Surviving is his son, Rick (Joey) Fosdyck of Ottumwa; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Fosdyck of Bloomfield; 5 grandchildren, Kim (Ben) Grove, Rachel (Brandon) Morton, Cole Fosdyck, Kyler Fosdyck and Keaton Fosdyck; 5 great-grandchildren, Logan, Gavin, Mason, Adison and Leah; two brothers, Ron Fosdyck of Ottumwa and Jim Fosdyck of Garden Grove, CA; two sisters, Connie Tipling of Ottumwa and Cindy Mae Jones of Rock Hill, SC.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-father, Lefty Lovell; two sons, Rocky and Randy Fosdyck; a brother, Dale Fosdyck and  two infant brothers and an infant sister.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating.  Cremation will follow the services.

Visitation will be open at 1 p.m. Thursday.  The family will be present one hour prior to the service on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bloomfield Care Center Activity Fund.
