Phillip Stephen Hannam, 69, of Indianola died at 1:13 p.m. September 15, 2018 at The Good Samaritan Society – Indianola where he had been a resident since 2009.
He was born November 27, 1948 in Ottumwa to John Martin and Frances Louise Winslow Hannam.
Steve grew up living in different parts of the United States and England as part of a military family. Having graduated from high school in Anchorage, AK, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He had held different manufacturing jobs in Illinois before moving to Indianola where he worked for Sodexo Janitorial Services at Simpson College. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Indianola.
Steve will be remembered as a kind, soft spoken friend to all.
Surviving are several cousins. He was preceded in death aunts, uncles and his parents.
Funeral mass will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ottumwa with Fr. Patrick Hilgendorf presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Ottumwa.
Visitation will be open after 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present at the funeral home on Wednesday from noon until 1 p.m. to greet friends.
Memorials may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
