Connie Coulter

Connie Jo Coulter, age 72, of Centerville, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 at her home.

Connie was born on December 9, 1945 in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Marcus Clabe and Helen Maxine (Carlson) Irven.  Following her graduation from Davis County High School, she continued her education at the Burlington Beauty Academy.  She was united in marriage to Michael “Mike” Ray Coulter on December 2, 1967.  To This union, two children were born, Tom and Chuck.

Connie was a Beautician for fifty years.  She truly enjoyed doing it, and even went to the hospital to do hair for those in need.  Connie was a tireless and selfless volunteer.  She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Centerville, where she was involved in Church activities.  She was very active in the Order of Eastern Star, and in 2007, she became the Worthy Grand Matron for the State of Iowa. She also volunteered for PEO, TTT, The Lord’s Cupboard and the Hospital Auxillary.  She enjoyed being in the Centerville High School Booster Club, and following her boys’ sporting events and activities throughout school.

Left to cherish Connie’s memory are her husband of over fifty years, Mike Coulter of Centerville; her children, Tom Coulter of Ottumwa, and Chuck (Erika) Coulter of Council Bluffs; one granddaughter, Taylor Jo (Dan) Killpack; three grandsons, Blake Coulter, Tyler Coulter, and Bryan Coulter; siblings, Judy DeFord, Gary (Jamie) Irven, and Jan (Bill) Daft; many nieces and nephews; as well as one great grandchild on the way, which Connie was absolutely ecstatic about.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Marcus Clabe Irven and Helen Maxine Irven; and a brother-in-law, Harry DeFord.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, September 24, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Centerville with Pastor Pam Kranzler officiating.  A Luncheon will be held after the service in the basement of the church.  A Visitation will take place, Sunday, September 23, 2018, from 2:00-6:00PM, with family greeting friends from 3:00-6:00PM.  An Order of The Eastern Star Service will take place at 5:00PM.  After the service is completed, the visitation will proceed.  Memorials have been established to the family of Connie Jo Coulter, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.  Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com.
