Helen G. Thode, 95, of Ottumwa, died at 4:54 a.m. April 29, 2019 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born April 1, 1924 in Melrose to Michael and Helen Feehan Sullivan. Helen married George T. Thode on September 25, 1946 in Ottumwa and he preceded her in death on March 19, 1991.
A 1942 graduate of Melrose High School and a graduate of Iowa Success School, Helen had worked at Union Bank & Trust, First National Bank and retired from St. Joseph Hospital.
Helen enjoyed being with family and was very proud of her family.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #888 Auxiliary.
Helen is survived by her children, Pamela (Joseph) Nicita of Scottsdale, AZ, Patty (Dennis) Schertz of Ottumwa, Mike (Debbie) Thode of Ottumwa, Mark (Veta) Thode of Washington and Gary (Angela) Thode of Ottumwa; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marge Davis and Mary Hannam.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Patrick Hilgendorf presiding. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home. A Christian Wake service will be 6 p.m. Thursday followed by family visitation until 8 p.m. Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
