Mary Ann Hughes was born on March 19, 1935 in Eldon, IA to Elmer and Icel Sconce Cox. She grew up in Eldon graduating with the Eldon High School Class of 1952. During her time there she met Glenn Hughes, and the two began their story together. They were married on December 27, 1957 at the Eldon Methodist Church. She not only took care of things at home but also helped at the store in the bakery. Mary Ann loved animals, riding her bicycle, and looking at flowers and plants. She always cherished time spent with family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be deeply missed.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings, Martin “Mart” Cox, Dwight “Dit”Cox, Kenneth “Red” Cox, and David Cox, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
