Lois Huddleston

Lois Lucille Huddleston, 81, of Ottumwa, died at 8:40 p.m. May 25, 2021 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.

She was born January 9, 1940 in Moulton, IA to Fred J. and Mary M. Davis Tipton. Lois married Larry Huddleston on September 26, 1959.

A 1958 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Lois worked 30 years in the principal’s office at Ottumwa High School, retiring in 1999.

She was a member of First Pentecostal Assembly of God where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. Lois enjoyed playing the violin, reading, working crossword puzzles, traveling with Golden Opportunity, and baking, especially around the holidays. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving is her husband, Larry; her children, Tammy (Jim) Kosman of Ottumwa, Kim (Dennis) Mullarkey and Monty (Kelly) Huddleston both of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Kelsey (Jesse) Jamison, Haley Huddleston, Lisa (Bill) Reece, Lora (Gary) Brons, Jill (James) O’Bryan, Bryan (Katie) Mullarkey, Kevin Mullarkey and Matt (Tara) Mullarkey; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Tipton of Arkadelphia, AR; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Grant Tipton and sisters, Neva Root and Marie Swope.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 28th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. For those unable to attend you may view the service on Reece Funeral Home Facebook page.

Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.

Visitation will be open at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 27th with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice serving Davis and Wapello Counties.
