Valerie Dawn Hazelwood, 59, of Ottumwa, died at 11:45 a.m. June 6, 2021 at her home.
She was born May 15, 1962 in Centerville, IA. Valerie married Kenneth “Mike” Hazelwood on March 24, 1979.
Valerie had worked for the Red Cross for 17 years in national disaster training. She loved to sing, dance, fish and go thrifting, but especially loved spending time with her grandkids.
Surviving is her husband, Mike; their children, Scott (Sarah) Hazelwood, Kendra Hazelwood and Kevin Hazelwood all of Ottumwa; 5 grandchildren, Austin, Haley, Amelia, Colin and Alivia; a great-grandson, Charlie; and her sister, Pam Horn of Fort Madison.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Garr; sisters, Debbie and Vickie and a grandson, Aaron Arguello.
Visitation will be open at 11 a.m. Thursday June 10th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.
Cremation will follow the visitation.
Memorials may be made to the family.
