LEE WILKINSON
OTTUMWA – Lela J. “Lee” Wilkinson, 89, of Ottumwa died at 3 a.m. September 17, 2016 at Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines, IA.
She was born December 31, 1926 in Englewood, New Jersey to Herbert and Clara Marie Hollingsworth Lustman. She married Robert “Bob” M. Wilkinson on September 18, 1948 in Des Moines. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2007.
A graduate of Indianola High School and Mercy School of Nursing in Des Moines, Lee moved to Ottumwa in 1960 working as an RN at Ottumwa Regional Health Center, until moving to Texas in 1972 where she worked as a public school nurse and private duty nurse. She retired in Springfield, Missouri and then moved back to Ottumwa in 2007.
Lee was a member of the First Christian Church in Ottumwa.
Surviving are two daughters, Patty (Baylor) House of Houston, AR and Beth Hendred of Ottumwa; a son-in-law, Paul Jackson of Urbandale; 6 grandchildren, Kevin, Ryan, J.B. (Brooke), Stephanie (Josh), Chantel and Sierra; 5 great grandchildren, Megan, Lane, Brantley, Peyton and Shae.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Denise Jackson and a son-in-law Tony Hendred.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Cy McMahon officiating. Burial will be in Oakview Cemetery in Albia.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
