CHARLES LEONARD Jr.
OTTUMWA-Charles E. Leonard Jr., 94, of Ottumwa, died at 9 p.m. October 3, 2016 at Sylvan Woods in Ottumwa.
He was born January 31, 1922 in Ottumwa to Charles E. and May Alderdice Leonard Sr. He married Deleth Berrier on May 29, 1946 in Ottumwa and she preceded him in death on January 14, 2010.

A 1939 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Charlie was a World War II veteran having served with the U.S. Army 91st Infantry.
He worked for Ottumwa Community Schools in the custodial department, working 12 years at Ottumwa High School, 7 years at Douglas, Ann G. Wilson and then to James, retiring in 1984.
Charlie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a member of Disabled American Veterans. He was an all-time Cardinal fan.
Surviving are two sons, Danny (Connie) Leonard of Ottumwa and Brian Leonard of Ottumwa; two daughters, Pam (Mike) Bean of Ottumwa, Melinda (Robert) Fisher of Lakeland, FL; 16 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Leonard Morse; two brothers, Max M. and Ted Leonard; two sisters, Mildred Thoma and Mary Faye McChesney; a great-grandson, Jacob Sanchez and two infant great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.

Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Friday with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to Hospice serving Davis & Wapello Counties, 927 Pennsylvania Ave., Ottumwa, IA 52501
