Nancy Lea Thomas, 76, of Ottumwa, died at 3:24 p.m. November 10, 2024 at Tiffany Springs Assisted Living in Kansas City, MO.
She was born March 24, 1948 in Ottumwa to Robert Dean and Aletha Verl Heath Dalager. She married Roger G. Thomas on November 24, 2002 and he preceded her in death July 5, 2022.
A resident of Ottumwa all of her life, Nancy was a 1966 graduate of Ottumwa High School. She graduated from Simpson College in 1970 with a B.A. in Education and taught Physical Education in the Ottumwa Schools for 20+ years.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church and a member of Tri Delta sorority in college.
Nancy enjoyed gardening, traveling, attending sporting events and especially loved spending time with family.
Surviving her son, Travis (Katie) Roberts of Kansas City, MO; step-daughters, Kacy Thomas and Kortny (Aaron) O’Brien both of Ottumwa; 6 grandchildren, Meghan Shipley, Hawkeye Roberts, Aiden Roberts, Sophie Thomas, Khloe O’Brien and Beckham O’Brien; siblings, Kathy Seohl of Houston, TX, Kris Dalager of Lawrence, KS, Dick Dalager of Branson, MO and Robert Dalager of Phoenix, AZ; and longtime friend, Mary Orman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Holly Dalager; and step-son, Zackry Patrick “ZT” Thomas.
Visitation will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 17th at Reece Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 18th at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Brad Miller officiating. The family will be present at the church to greet friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
