Joseph Lyall Davis, 86, of Ottumwa, died at 8:42 a.m. November 11, 2024 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
He was born April 6, 1938 in Oskaloosa to Lyall and Wanda Graff Davis. Joe married Betty Shinn on October 10, 1964 in Monmouth, IL.
A graduate of Oskaloosa High School, Joe served in the Iowa Army National Guard. He owned and operated Davis Refrigeration Heating & Air Conditioning for 43 years.
Joe had been a member of Church of the Brethren for many years and was a very honest, hard working, devout Christian. He was a member of Rotary Club of Ottumwa. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
Surviving is his wife, Betty; their daughters, Debbie (Terry) Derby of Ottumwa and Julie Davis of Sigourney; 3 grandchildren, Cooper Derby, Parker Derby and Ashley (Rich) Baker; a great-granddaughter, Rory Baker; a brother, Carl (Donna) Davis of Eddyville; a niece, Jodi (Doug) VanWyk; a nephew, Lyall (Veronica) Davis; and an employee who was like a son, Dan Herrmann.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Delores Davis.
Visitation will be open at 10 a.m. Sunday, November 17th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, November 18th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
