David Spaur began his life journey on November 6th, 1964, when he was born the fourth of what would become the six “Spaur Boys”. The Spaur boys loved to play wild and rowdy often causing Dr. Orlup to enter the exam room and ask, “who did what to who?” David had equal times of being the first and the second who. As the boys grew they progressed from being playmates to being the crew for their Dad’s roofing company. David mastered the skills of roofing and would confess that it never really gets out of your blood; you have to return to the roof occasionally. David knew that his wonder-lust spirit was too strong to ignore.
Over the years David moved around often, venturing from Iowa to Oklahoma to Tennessee to California and back to Iowa, moving around from Des Moines, Albia, and Madora. Where ever he landed, he always chose to work in some form of customer service, from waiting tables to managing restaurants to sales clerks or manager in convenience stores to department stores. His specialty was making customers happy. His smile and caring tone worked like honey to calm an irate customer. His logical thinking and organizational skills finished off with an impeccable work ethic made him a prized manager in every venture.
David attended school at Lovilia Elementary and graduated from Albia High School with the class of 1983. While in high school, David was in the Choir and The Glee club. He received many awards and ribbons for his artwork.
For the last few years David lived with and worked for his good friends Lori Heald and David Moore on their ranch in Madora. He loved the peacefulness of the country.
But his soul was needed elsewhere, and God called him home on April 12th, 2025.
He is survived by his parents Gerald and Barbra Spaur of Lovilia; his brothers Mark, Dan (Nita), Gary (Pam), Lee (Patty), and Matt; and his many nieces and nephews and over 30 great nieces and nephews. Also left to mourn are many aunts and uncles and cousins. The number of friends he left appears to be impossible to count.
A small graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday April 19th at the Indiana Chapel at Attica, Iowa. His ashes along with the ashes of his fur-buddy, Niki, will be buried.
Following will be a Celebration of Life gathering for all who knew and loved him at 12:00 pm at the Lovilia Community Center in Lovilia, Iowa. Lunch will be served. Please come prepared to share your memories of David.
