Peyton Kelderman
New Sharon. Peyton “Pete” Kelderman, 56, of rural New Sharon, died Friday, April 11, 2025, at his home in Oskaloosa. He was born June 1, 1968, in Ottumwa, the son of Kenneth and Pamela Bonney Kelderman. Peyton graduated from Blakesburg High School. He continued his education studying culinary arts in Oklahoma. In 1988, he was united in marriage to Amy Kerby in Ottumwa, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born Jessica and Sylvia. Peyton and Amy later divorced. On August 23, 2003, he was united in marriage to Sally Mason in Eddyville, Iowa. Peyton worked at Kelderman Manufacturing and later in the warehouse at Schwan’s Ice Cream for a few years. He then went to work driving semi for Circle R Farms. He drove semi for over 20 years until his recent retirement. Peyton loved his family to ride in the semi with him anytime and would often use a stop at Starbucks as a bribe to get them to join him for the day. He had an ornery streak and mostly enjoyed fishtailing his truck around the snow-covered gravel roads to scare his passengers. Peyton enjoyed the outdoors and nature. He loved to hunt and fish and truly loved sharing his love for nature with his family. He always looked forward to adventures on the four-wheeler and the Ranger with his children. He was a talented handyman and could fix anything. Most of all he enjoyed being with and taking care of his family.
His family includes his wife Sally Kelderman of rural New Sharon; their children, Sarah Mason of Delta, Madison “Peanut” Mason of Oskaloosa, Jessica Lewis of Belle Plaine, Sylvia (Curtis) Kelderman-Lewis of Oklahoma, Parker (Hayley VanArkel) Lewis of Oskaloosa, Braxton Lewis of New Sharon, Kaidence Lewis of New Sharon, Joceslyn Lewis of New Sharon, and Tiffany Deupee of Oskaloosa; four grandchildren, Beau, Kayleigh, Atlas, and Oden; his father, Kenneth Kelderman of Arkansas; a brother, Harlan (Tammy) Kelderman of Ottumwa; a sister, Kendra Howard of Oskaloosa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Pam and Geral Van Kleek, and a nephew Tyler Howard.
