Alice Crane

Alice Carolyn Crane, 88, of Centerville, passed away peacefully on April 13th, 2025, at Mercy Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 24th, 1936, in Chico, CA, to Geneva Croft and Harold Anderson, Alice lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication.

On November 24th, 1954, Alice married Byrd L. Crane Sr. in Chico, CA. Together, they built the family business, Crane Brothers Trucking, until their retirement. Alice was known for her remarkable sense of humor and her fierce love and protection of her children and grandchildren.

Alice is survived by her children: Byrd L. Crane Jr. (Becky) of Centerville, Keith Crane (Susan) of Albia, and Sherri Caron (Phil) of Newnan, Georgia. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Holli Kroeger (Craig), Phylicia Caron, and Max Caron; great-grandchildren: Allison Johnson (Jordan), Brayden Kroeger (Siarah), Broedy Kroeger (Kasidee); and great-great-grandchildren: Maverick, Kamden, Theo, Teller, and Wren.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Byrd, her daughter Jeannie Louise, her sisters Mary Raschke and Fairleen Anderson, and her brothers Bob, Floyd, Billy Richardson, and Harold (Kicker) Anderson.

A memorial service to celebrate Alice’s life will be held on Saturday, May 3rd, at 2:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Centerville.

Alice’s legacy of love and laughter will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
