JUDY PORTER
OTTUMWA- Judith Darlene Porter, 71, of Oskaloosa, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 3:04 p.m. February 11, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
She was born April 2, 1945 in Cedar Rapids to Newell “Hank” and Mildred Brown Hoadley. She married Richard Lloyd Porter Sr. in November of 1970. They later divorced.
Having attended Fairfield High School, Judy was a waitress most of her life. She owned and operated Judy’s Café in Brighton until 2011. She lived in Fairfield and Apache Junction, AZ before moving back to Ottumwa in 2015.
Judy loved to play Bingo, enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Jimmy Johnson, and was a Green Bay Packers fan. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda (Steve) Anderson of Ottumwa and Wendy (Tom) McCombs of Oskaloosa; a son, Rick Porter of Turant, TX; four step-children, Denise, Dennis, Barbara, and Bill; nine grandchildren, Rachel, Heather, Steven, Brandon, Steven, Savanna, Matthew, Sidney, and Heaven; five great grandchildren, Karley, Cody, Hunter, Xavier, and Maliyah; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; a sister, Lou (Dennis) Robinson of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Jerry Hoadley of MO; several nieces and nephews; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by a life partner, Paul Sanders; her parents; a son, Vernon Porter; two grandsons, Jason and Eathan Eckwall; and two sisters, Sharon Kay Pitcher and Joyce Theisen.
Her body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Wallerich officiating.
