OTTUMWA-Michael Edmund Brown, 58, of 19753 132nd St., died at 5:09 a.m. February 14, 2017 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

He was born March 30, 1958 in Davis County, IA to Roscoe Edmund and Reverta Laws Brown.  He married Melinda Close on September 15, 1989.

Mike had worked at Clow Mfg., Meadowgold Dairy, Wapello County Sheriff’s Reserve, Merrill Security and was currently director of operations of Eco Systems.

He was a member of The Bridge Church.

Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, arrow head and mushroom hunting and bowling.

Surviving is his wife, Melinda; daughter, Stacie Raymie of Burlington; two step-daughters, Christina Jones of Chillicothe and Bradie Close of Ottumwa; a step-son, Shane (Savannah) Close of Agency; 14 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; his mother, Reverta Stewart of Albia; siblings, Betty Patterson of Albia, Bill (Eva) Brown of Drakesville, Barbara (John) Shaw and Judy Hixson both of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roscoe Brown; a sister, Dixie Coronado and a brother, Paul Brown.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Marty Schmidt officiating.  Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery near Moravia.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to The Bridge Church or to the Family.

JEANNINE MORRISON

OTTUMWA – Jeannine Ann Morrison, 72, of 834 Ellis St, died at 11:10 p.m. February 10, 2017 at Hospice House in Ottumwa surrounded by her family.

She was born March 24, 1944 in Ottumwa to Martin and Imogene Markwell Carroll. She married Richard LeRoy Morrison on February 1, 1973. He preceded her in death on August 28, 2004.

A 1962 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Jeannine had worked at the ammunitions plant in Burlington and at Universal Rundle in Ottumwa. She earned her CNA at Ottumwa Manor and worked at Ottumwa Heights, Ridgewood Care Center, and Pennsylvania Place.

Jeannine enjoyed bowling, participating in Relay for Life, sitting on the front porch drinking coffee with her neighbor Joyce, and spending time with her family.

Surviving are four children, Larry Gene Bankson Jr. (Renee Mitchell) of Ottumwa, Lori (Jody) Geary of Des Moines, John Martin Morrison (Maxine Burton)  of Ottumwa, and Misty Lynn (Dennis) Daugherty of Missouri; twelve grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a brother, Marty E. (Maria) Carroll Jr. of Palestine, TX; and several nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Christy Lee Morrison; and a grandson, Zacharey Casey.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice serving Davis and Wapello Counties 927 Pennsylvania Ave. Ottumwa IA 52501.

OTTUMWA- Judith Darlene Porter, 71, of Oskaloosa, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 3:04 p.m. February 11, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

She was born April 2, 1945 in Cedar Rapids to Newell “Hank” and Mildred Brown Hoadley. She married Richard Lloyd Porter Sr. in November of 1970. They later divorced.

Having attended Fairfield High School, Judy was a waitress most of her life. She owned and operated Judy’s Café in Brighton until 2011. She lived in Fairfield and Apache Junction, AZ before moving back to Ottumwa in 2015.

Judy loved to play Bingo, enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Jimmy Johnson, and was a Green Bay Packers fan.  She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters, Brenda (Steve) Anderson of Ottumwa and  Wendy (Tom) McCombs of Oskaloosa; a son, Rick Porter of Turant, TX; four step-children, Denise, Dennis, Barbara, and Bill; nine  grandchildren, Rachel, Heather, Steven, Brandon, Steven, Savanna, Matthew, Sidney, and Heaven; five great grandchildren, Karley, Cody, Hunter, Xavier, and Maliyah; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; a sister, Lou (Dennis) Robinson of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Jerry Hoadley of MO; several nieces and nephews; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by a life partner, Paul Sanders; her parents; a son, Vernon Porter; two grandsons, Jason and Eathan Eckwall; and two sisters, Sharon Kay Pitcher and Joyce Theisen.

Her body has been cremated.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Wallerich officiating.

Memorials may be made to the family.

BLOOMFIELD-Joshua Emanuel Miller, 37, of 202 W. North St., died at 6:29 p.m. February 12, 2017 at his home.

He was born November 1, 1979 in Freeport, IL to Robert and Victoria Stahr Miller.  He married Kersty Downing on March 4, 2007 in Ottumwa.

Josh had been employed at Domino’s since 2003, where he met his wife.

He was a member of Ottumwa Community Church.

Josh has always been a loving and dedicated father, playing a strong and active role in the lives of his kids.  He liked playing games with his children and watching wrestling with his boys.  Josh enjoyed many activities with his kids such as going to church every Wednesday and Sunday and spending afternoons reading and taking adventures outside to play in nature.

Surviving is his wife, Kersty; his six children, Kaleb, Emilee, Roman, Jaxon, Spenzer and Alycia Miller; his father, Robert Miller of Fairfield; sisters, Sarah (Wade) Warfield of Shannon, IL and Katie (Ty) Medema of Iowa City; nieces, Lily McFarlin and Ariana Downing and nephew, J.D. Medema.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Victoria Miller.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Bryan Wyldes officiating.  Cremation will follow the services.

Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

LEONARD MILLIGAN

OTTUMWA-Leonard Harry Milligan, 88, of Ottumwa, died at 7:43 a.m. February 12, 2017 at Fonda Care Center in Fonda, IA.

He was born April 1, 1928 in Cameron, MO to Harry and Stella Milligan. He married Alice Victoria McDaniel  November 2, 1964 and she preceded him in death on September 20, 1994.  He married Gwendolyn Milligan on October 11, 1997 and she preceded him in death on November 21, 2012.

Leonard served with the U.S. Army for 7 months during WWII and then worked for the railroad.  He served with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952-54 during the Korean War. He later worked for Burlington Northern Railroad, starting in Cameron, MO and retiring in 1993. He lived in Avery and Albia before moving to Ottumwa in 1997.

He was a life member and Past Post Commander of O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he served on the firing squad for many years. He also was a Mason and a Shriner.

Surviving is a son, Mark Milligan of Fremont; a daughter, Charlotte Raley of Albia; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a brother, Lloyd Milligan of Libertyville, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three  children, Chuck Milligan, Charlene Tamerius, Harry Milligan, and Johnnie Franklin; and three sisters

Shirley Ann (Traxler) Kilfoy, age 82 of Rochester, Minnesota, formerly of Exline, Iowa passed away, Monday, February 13, 2017 at Meadow Lakes Senior Care in Rochester, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, Iowa. OTTUMWA-Zachary Lee Davidson, 22, of Ottumwa died at 6:56 p.m. February 13, 2017 at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.

He was born April 2, 1994 in Ottumwa to John and Holly Richardson Davidson.

Zach had attended Ottumwa High School.  He was an artist, loved drawing and was funny and witty.

Surviving is his son, Caden Davidson; his mother and step-father, Holly and Joe Brown of Ottumwa; his father and step-mother, John and Sheryl Davidson of Ottumwa; siblings, Chelsea (Scott) Bainbridge, Dawson Brown, Richard Morrison and Max Morrison all of Ottumwa; grandparents, Tim and Paula Veach of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by great-grandmother, LaVada Robertson.

His body has been cremated.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Schlotter officiating.

The family will be present from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.

 David Owen Mitcheltree, 69, of Keosauqua died at 8:06 A.M. Tuesday February 14, 2017 at University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City.  He was born February 23, 1947 in Sharon, PA to William and Elsie Pantall Mitcheltree and married Linda Jean Young on July 6, 1974 in Fairfield.

 Dave graduated in 1965 from West Middlesex High School in Pennsylvania and served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, including two years in Tahkli, Thailand.  Upon his return to the states he attended Penn State University and graduated in 1973 from Parsons College, Fairfield. David worked for the State of Iowa Department of Human Services in Van Buren County for 17 years as an Income Maintenance Worker, resigning to work in various positions at Douds Elementary Schools where he retired as a Third Grade Teacher in 2009. He was an avid outdoorsman, spending hours in his tree stand with his bow or hunting for Indian artifacts in the streams of Van Buren County.  He was a collector of antiques and enjoyed attending auctions.  David loved teaching and never missed an opportunity to offer a life lesson.  His family was his passion and their travels together treasured.  Dave was a member of Serve Outdoors which serves youth and disabled hunters, the First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield, the Keosauqua Library Board, served as president of the Van Buren Sports Boosters and was very active in the Van Buren Players.

He is survived by his wife, Linda of Keosauqua, a daughter, Jessica Ehrenfelt of Richland, three brothers, Gary Mitcheltree (Christine) of Florence, SC, Jim Mitcheltree of Daytona Beach, FL and Ron Mitcheltree of Sharpsville, PA, a sister, Carol Edmundson (Randy) of Erie, PA, five nieces and nephews, Jeff Mitcheltree, Melisa Boatright, Greg Mitcheltree, Keith Mitcheltree, KC Zelina and eight great-nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and seven aunts and uncles.

 Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday February 18, 2017 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with Rev. Joseph Phipps officiating.  Visitation will open at 3P.M. Friday with the family present 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Purdom Cemetery, Keosauqua with military honors by Beer- Barker Post No. 113 American Legion, Keosauqua.  Memorials to Van Buren Community Hospital Physical Therapy or Cardiac Rehab Department or Serve Outdoors may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 704 Franklin Street, Keosauqua, IA 52565

Jerry W. McClure, 56 of Keosauqua died at 5:22 P.M. Wednesday February 15, 2017 at University Hospital, Iowa City.  He was born June 9, 1960 in Keosauqua to Norlan L and Shirley A. Livesay McClure and married Gwen Troutman in 1981 at West Burlington Christian Church.  They later divorced.

Jerry grew up in Keosauqua, graduated from Van Buren High School in 1978 and had attended classes at Indian Hills for a while before becoming a truck driver.  He lived in West Burlington from 1979 to 1980, in Wever from 1980-1991, New London 1992-1996 and in 1996 he moved back to Keosauqua.  Jerry loved driving semi-trucks, which he did as long as he was able.  After that he traded the driver’s seat for a job being a truck dispatcher.  Most of all Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving are his girlfriend, LaVola Hatton of Ft. Madison, two sons, Nick McClure of Keosauqua and Matthew McClure (Britany) of West Point, a grandson, Logan Dean McClure, his parents, Norlan and Shirley McClure of Keosauqua, a brother, Gary Dean McClure (Amy) of Clarksville, TN, a sister, Debbie Ann Patterson (Troy) of West Burlington, nephews, Alex McClure (Kelly) of Memphis, TN, Tyler Patterson and Zach Patterson, and a niece, Emma Patterson of West Burlington, two brothers-in-law, Wade Troutman (Yvonne) and their children of Bonaparte and Jeff Furnald (Penny) and children of West Burlington, LaVola’s children, John Helenthal (Jessica), daughter, Tiara and sons, John and Bentley, David Helenthal (Sara) daughters, Mandy and Kylie and son, David, Richard Manley “Kent” (Sasha) and sons, Quinton Casanova “Nova”, Hunter, Evan, Cameron and Micah, Daryl Manley (Shaye), daughter, Neveah and son, Eli, his ex-wife, Gwen Troutman and her parents Dick and Francy Troutman.

Funeral services will be at 2P.M. Saturday February 18, 2017 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with family officiating.  Visitation will open at 3P.M. Friday at the funeral home with family present 6-8 P.M. for a time of visitation and celebration of Jerry’s life.  Burial will be in Fellows Cemetery, Keosauqua.  Memorials to Shriner Children’s Hospitals may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 1365 250th Avenue, West Point, IA 52656.

OTTUMWA-Donald Foster Courtney, 91, of 6 Weaver Dr. died at 3:55 p.m. February 17, 2017 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.

He was born June 19, 1925 near What Cheer, IA to Charles Elonso “Lon” and Amanda Estella Marr Courtney.  He married Maxine Stanley on June 8, 1947.

A graduate of What Cheer High School in 1942, he received his Teaching Certificate from Iowa State Teachers College.  He taught at a country school north of Fremont then worked for an aircraft manufacturer in Long Beach, CA.  He returned to Iowa farming and working for Farm Bureau in Oskaloosa.  He worked for a short time at the John Deere store in Oskaloosa.  In 1956 he became co-owner of Courtney-Shepard Implement in Ottumwa.  He owned the business for 40 years, retiring in 1996.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ottumwa Masonic Lodge #16 A.F. & A.M. and Rotary Club of Ottumwa where he was a Paul Harris Fellow.

Surviving are his wife, Maxine; a daughter, Laurie (Gary) Miller of Little Rock, AR; a sister-in-law, Ruth Stanley of Oskaloosa; a brother-in-law, Wayne Stanley of Texas and many nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

His body has been cremated.

A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist

Church with Rev. Jon Disburg officiating. Inurnment will be in Indianapolis Cemetery near What Cheer.

The family will be present at Reece Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.  A Masonic Service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church.

OTTUMWA- Neva Juanita Fowler, 84, of 700 W. Alta Vista died at 1:45 a.m. February 18, 2017 at Ridgewood Specialty Care in Ottumwa.

She was born October 18, 1932 in Unionville, MO to William “Bill” and Gracie Mary Jane Mullenix Beck.  She married Herschel Fowler on September 3, 1950.

Having grown up in Missouri, Neva had worked for Standard Kollsman in Ottumwa.  She and her husband moved to Centerville in 1981, returning to Ottumwa in 2008.  While in Centerville they owned an antique shop.  Her primary interest was antique and fashion jewelry.  She was also an excellent seamstress.

She was a member of Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Ottumwa and in Centerville.

Surviving are her husband, Herschel; two daughters, Theresa (Gary) Keasling and Treva Boatman both of Ottumwa; four grandchildren, Travis (Sarah) Hougland, Aaron (Jessica) Hougland, Kurt (Jessie) Keasling and Lorelle (Jeremy) Hopkins; 9 great grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Lois) Beck of Texas; 4 sisters, Sally (Gene) Phillips of Ottumwa, Alberta Fowler of Centerville, Carol (Jerry) Kerby of Centerville and Mary Kay Copeland of Ottumwa.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gregg Fowler and two infant brothers.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Elder Kenneth Tipton officiating.  Burial will be in Rose Cemetery near Graysville, MO.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Monday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.

Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.

OTTUMWA-Connie Elaine Hopkins, 74, of 1227 N. Fellows Ave. died at 2:45 a.m. February 18, 2017 at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

She was born November 29, 1942 in Ottumwa, IA to Robert and Kathryn Pickens Bankson.  She married Richard “Dick” Hopkins on April 30, 1960.

A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1960, she received her LPN degree at Indian Hills Community College.  She drove a school bus 21 years for Ottumwa and Davis Counties.  She started nursing as an LPN in 1997, working at Vista Woods Care Center in Ottumwa.

Connie enjoyed line dancing, having taught in Iowa and while wintering in Florida. She enjoyed swimming, walking, biking, being outdoors, working crosswords and spending time with grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband, Dick; a son, Jeffrey Alan (Tracy) Hopkins of Ottumwa; three grandchildren, Haleigh (Jason) Skaggs, Mariah and Nataliah Hopkins; three great grandchildren, Kennedy, Jordyn and Knox Skaggs and a brother, David Howard Bankson of Kansas City, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Stacy Hopkins and an infant daughter Carmen Rene’ Hopkins, a son, Tommy Dean Hopkins, a brother, David Olin Bankson and a sister, Judith Frueh.

Her body has been cremated.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Hendred officiating.  Inurnment will be in Shaul Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation with the family present will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

OTTUMWA- Franklin Donald “Sonny” Rupe, Jr., 63, of Ottumwa died February 18, 2017 at his home.

He was born July 10, 1953 to Frank and Celina Vest Rupe, Sr.  He married Juansetta Clark on October 13, 1973.  She preceded him in death on May 29, 2016.

A graduate of Ottumwa High School, Indian Hills Community College and Buena Vista University he earned a degree in Design Drafting.  He worked at Lowenberg Bakery, Carver Pump in Muscatine and 20 years at Excel Meat Solutions.  He was also a carpenter.

He was an avid marble collector, enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his son, Randy (Felicia) Rupe of Ottumwa; two daughters, Mary Ann “Sis” Rupe of Altoona and Becky Jane (George III) Post of Ottumwa; six grandsons, Justin, Austin, Clayton, Joey, Tristan, Wyatt; one great grandson Payton Ray; three brothers, Dean Rupe, Danny (Patty) Rupe and Dave (Sheri) Rupe all of Ottumwa; five stepsisters, Debbie (Kim) Frymoyer, Dixie (Mike) Garmon, Candy Thaxton, Terri and  Carla Strawhacker all of Bloomfield and a stepbrother, Doug Strawhacker of Bloomfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepmother, Daisy Rupe; a great granddaughter, Donna Irene Rose Rachford; a sister-in-law, Brenda Rupe; a stepsister, Cindy Strawhacker and a step brother-in-law, Dave Thaxton.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Dan Smith officiating.  Burial will be in McIntire Cemetery.

Visitation begins after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the family present one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Working Man’s Christmas Party.

ELDON-Larry Steven Rupe, 66, of Eldon died at 10:40 p.m. February 17, 2017 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
He was born September 30, 1950 to Doyle and Willa Batterson Rupe.

A graduate of Cardinal High School, he worked at John Morrell & Co. in Ottumwa, Dexter in Fairfield and as a security guard at Cargill Meat Solutions in Ottumwa.

Surviving are his siblings, Jim and wife, Linda Rupe of Ottumwa, Barb and husband, Doug Black of Ottumwa, Becky and husband, Bill Jobe of Rapids City, IL,  Martin and wife Cindy Rupe of Bladensburg and Melvin Rupe of Pueblo West, CO and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Smith officiating.  Burial will be in Fiedler Cemetery.

Visitation begins after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

OTTUMWA-William A. Clark, 86, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and formerly of Ottumwa died February 16, 2017 at the Renaissance Memory Care in Highlands Ranch.

He was born September 2, 1930 in Jacksonville, IL to Homer J. and Elizabeth L. Stevens Clark.

He was a tire salesman for 30 years in Los Angeles, CA.

Surviving are his son, Steve (Paula) Clark of Centennial, CO; a daughter, Pamela (Craig) Freeman of Ojai, CA and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Carla Blackburn.

Graveside service and burial will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa.

Lesley Marie Boylan, of Centerville, Iowa, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, at the age of 89.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00AM,  Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Ken Mehrhoff officiating. A visitation will take place from 10-11AM on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville. Memorials have been established to the Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.  Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com

LINDA KELSEY

OTTUMWA-Linda J. Lynch Kelsey, 60, of 22847 Whiskey Ridge, died at 3:48 a.m. February 15, 2017 at the Bloomfield Care Center.

She was born October 6, 1956 in Ottumwa to Charles and Virginia Jasper Lynch.  She married Willard “Randy” Kelsey on October 20, 1974.

Linda had attended Ottumwa High School.  She lived in Green Castle, MO from 1974-1980, La Plata, MO from 1980-1991, and back to Ottumwa in 1991 until the present. She had worked at a care center in La Plata, MO, and had also worked at Good Samaritan and Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

Linda was a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother.

Surviving is her husband, Randy; a daughter, Mindy (Shawn) Kibe of Gladbrook; a son, John (Kerry) Kelsey of Ottumwa; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; her father, Charles Lynch of Ottumwa; two sisters, her twin, Paula  MacGruder of Kansas and Vickie Northup of Ollie; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, William Kelsey; her mother, Virginia Lynch and a brother, John Lynch.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Hornback officiating.

Cremation will follow the services.

Visitation begins at 9 a.m. with the family present one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to Bloomfield Care Center or Hospice of Washington County.

Toby Lee Weber, 28, of Batavia, IA passed away Wednesday morning, February 22, 2017 at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.  A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 a.m.Monday, February 27, 2017 at the Cranston Family Funeral Chapel in Batavia with Pastor Danny Cary officiating.  Visitation will be held Sunday, February 26, 2016 at the Cranston Family Funeral Chapel in Batavia, with the family present to greet friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.  Memorial contributions in Toby’s honor may be directed to the family who will be dividing them between three Batavia organizations.  Memorials may be sent in care of Cranston Family Funeral Home, P.O. FREMONT-Brenda Jean Blaise, 60, of Fremont, died at 2:57 p.m. February 22, 2017 at Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa.

She was born February 20, 1957 in Ottumwa to Joe J. and Marian V. Chambers Hopkins.

Brenda was a 1976 graduate of Ottumwa High School and had served in the U.S. Army.

She loved the outdoors such as gardening, taking care of the yard, camping, going to the river and spending time with her grandkids.  Brenda always took care of her family, her family was her hobby and she had a big family who loved her and will miss her dearly.

Surviving are her daughters, Melissa (Brandon) Humble of Fremont and Melinda (Shamus) Brown of Bloomfield; four grandchildren, Trenton, Olivia, Alex and Quentin; her father, Joe Hopkins of Albia; her 12 siblings, Joe A. (Paula) Hopkins, Wayne (DeAnna) Hopkins, Jim Hopkins, John Hopkins, Lowell Hopkins, Lloyd (Chris) Hopkins, Larry (Sarah) Hopkins, Jenny (Ken) Anderson, Penny (Mike) Munley, Maryellen (Jeff) Kingsley, Cindy (Jake) Weilbrenner and Candy Hopkins.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marian Hopkins.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Friday with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to the family.

WAYNE BONNETT

OTTUMWA- R. Wayne Bonnett, 92, of Ottumwa, died at 6:36 a.m. February 27, 2017 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.

He was born February 11, 1925 in Farson to Lawrence and Blanche Sanchez Bonnett.  He married Jean Knott on April 20, 1946 in Ottumwa.

Wayne was a graduate of Farson High School and of Kletzing College in Oskaloosa.  He taught school, farmed, worked in the offices of John Morrell & Co. and had worked for Tampa Tractor Co.

He had attended Northgate Alliance Church and Ottumwa Baptist Temple.

Surviving are his wife, Jean; two daughters, Linda (Ken) Redmann of Northport, FL and Lois (Rick) Scott of Ottumwa; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rosalie Brown.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Travis Decker officiating.  Private burial will be in Competine Cemetery near Farson.

Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service.
