OTTUMWA-Robert L. Heckart Sr., 81, of Ottumwa, died September 12, 2016 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

He was born June 13, 1935 in Ottumwa to Clarence “Bud” and Mildred Cook Heckart.  He married Joyce A. Morrell on March 1, 1952.  She preceded him in death on July 30, 2015.

Bob was a partner with his brother, Gary, in Bud Heckart & Sons., Inc.

He was a member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene.

Bob’s favorite pastime was breakfast at Second St. Café, then running around with his Chihuahua buddy “BB Heckart” and go over to his shop to tinker with his old cars, mow the grass and visit with the love of his life at Shaul Cemetery daily.

Surviving is a daughter, Toni (Bill) Lennie of Ottumwa; a son, Robert L. (Tori) Heckart Jr. of Ottumwa; five grandchildren, Colton (Kara) Heckart, Kassandra Heckart, Kinsley Heckart, Krista Heckart and Sierra Lennie; a great-grandson, Silas Coben Showalter Lennie; two brothers, Gary (Barb) Heckart and Rick (Diane) Heckart, both of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Kelsey Ann Heckart.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Mark Eigsti  officiating.  Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.

Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to Trinity Church of the Nazarene or Heartland Humane Society, PO Box 1149, Ottumwa, IA 52501.

Dorothy E. Carter, 94, of Mt. Pleasant died at 12:58 A.M. Saturday September 17, 2016 at Park Place Elder Living in Mt. Pleasant.  She was born February 14, 1922 in Van Buren County to Rex and Iva Wallingford Hooper and married Roger N. Carter on June 3, 1939 in Fairfield.  He died November 23, 1987.

Dorothy grew up and attended school in Van Buren County. In her married years she had lived in Van Buren, Jefferson and Henry Counties and most recently in Hillsboro and Mt. Pleasant. When her boys were younger she enjoyed playing cards and camping.  She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, gardening and coffee with friends.

Surviving are three sons, Gary Carter (Marlene) of Mt. Pleasant, Gene Carter (Linda) and Gale Carter (Marie) all of Hillsboro, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by an infant son, Roger Jr., two brothers, Harry and Leo Hooper and a grandson, Tim Carter

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday September 20, 2016 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with Pastor Bryan Katchay officiating.  Visitation with family will be from 10-11 A.M.Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Miller Chapel Cemetery, Northeast of Keosauqua.  Memorials to Park Place Activities or HCI Hospice or Donor’s Choice may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 1388 Old Highway 34, Mt. Pleasant, IA 52641

BLAKESBURG – Helen Barnett, 90, formerly of rural Blakesburg died September 17, 2016 at Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa.

She was born March 7, 1926 in Davis County to Laris and Rosa Walker Glosser.  She married Frank Barnett on September 24, 1947.  He preceded her in death on October 21, 2009.

Helen grew up in the Hopewell community and was a resident of rural Blakesburg most of her life.   She was a member of Blakesburg United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Wilma Jean (Bill) Collins of Clinton, MO and Debora June (James) Sampson of Blakesburg; a son, Terry Frank (Carol) Barnett of Macon, MO; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life.

She loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, fishing and was an avid artifact collector.

The last of eight children, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Marvin, Eugene, Glen, Judson and Richard Glosser and two sisters, Freda Warner and Velma Glosser.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hopewell Cemetery with Pastor  Bill Hornback officiating.

Visitation is open after 1 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hopewell Church.

OTTUMWA – Lela J. “Lee” Wilkinson, 89, of Ottumwa died at 3 a.m. September 17, 2016 at Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines, IA.

She was born December 31, 1926 in Englewood, New Jersey to Herbert and Clara Marie Hollingsworth Lustman.  She married Robert “Bob” M. Wilkinson on September 18, 1948 in Des Moines.  He preceded her in death on September 19, 2007.

A graduate of Indianola High School and Mercy School of Nursing in Des Moines, Lee moved to Ottumwa in 1960 working as an RN at Ottumwa Regional Health Center, until moving to Texas in 1972 where she worked as a public school nurse and private duty nurse. She retired in Springfield, Missouri and then moved back to Ottumwa in 2007.

Lee was a member of the First Christian Church in Ottumwa.

Surviving are two daughters, Patty (Baylor) House of Houston, AR and Beth Hendred of Ottumwa; a son-in-law, Paul Jackson of Urbandale; 6 grandchildren, Kevin, Ryan, J.B. (Brooke), Stephanie (Josh), Chantel and Sierra; 5 great grandchildren, Megan, Lane, Brantley, Peyton and Shae.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Denise Jackson and a son-in-law Tony Hendred.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Cy McMahon officiating.  Burial will be in Oakview Cemetery in Albia.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

OTTUMWA-Alice Levetia Kershaw, 77, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 4:10 a.m. September 20, 2016 at Serenity House in Oskaloosa.

She was born June 19, 1939, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Marion Wesley and Levetia Alice Caster Christy.  She married Lester L. Kershaw on July 15, 1956 and he preceded her in death on July 19, 2014.

She had worked as an associate in Ottumwa Community Schools pre-school.

Alice was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Joy Circle and United Methodist Women.

Surviving are her children, Joyce (Larry) Mickels of Oak Grove, MO, Carl (Annette) Kershaw of Plevna, KS, Brenda (Gary) Smith of Keomah Village and Shannon (Becky) Kershaw of Alton, IL; 8 grandchildren, Scott, Haley, Nathan, Matt, Cassie, Shane, Evan and Elyse; four great-grandchildren, Lilly, Ami, Gavin and Garrett.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Cleone Hem.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Shrimplin officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation begins at  4 p.m. Thursday with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Robert A. McCarty Jr., 37, of Birmingham died at 5:55 A.M. Monday September 19, 2016 at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City from injuries sustained in a car accident.  He was born February 21, 1979 to Robert Sr. and Dovie Shuffler McCarty.  He married Ricki Boyd April of 1998 in Farmington and they later divorced.  He married Rachael Counts January 29, 2005 in Stockport.

Robbie grew up in and spent all of his adult life in Van Buren County and attended Harmony Schools.  He had been a member of the Eagles Club in Fairfield and enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and being a mechanic.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Rachael McCarty of Hillsboro, two sons with Ricki, Clinton McCarty of Farmington and Austin McCarty of Farmington, three brothers, Rick McCarty (Sierra) of Fairfield, Richard McCarty (Cady) of Richland and Renny McCarty (Hannah) of Selma, two step sons, Dakota Haynes of Hillsboro and Deven Kite of Cedar Rapids, three grandmothers, Dorothy Cook of Libertyville, Linda McCarty of Bonaparte and Vel Brereton of Fairfield.  He was preceded in death by three grandfathers, Richard McCarty, Lloyd Berereton and Clarence Cook.

Funeral services will be at 6:30 P.M. Thursday September 22, 2016 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with Larry Shipley officiating.  Visitation with family will be from 5- 6:30 Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.  In accordance with his wishes cremation will follow the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family may be left at funeral home or mailed to the family at 28321 Route J40, Keosauqua, IA 52565

OTTUMWA–Patric Alan Reiley, 45, of rural Blakesburg, died at 2:54 p.m. September 22, 2016.

He was born March 16, 1971 in Portland, OR to Rev. Stanley Karl and Carlotta DeAnne Stokesberry Reiley. He married Ranae Caudron Thomas on May 9, 2009, they have been together since 1995.

A 1989 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Patric graduated from Indian Hills Community College in the aviation program and attended Buena Vista University. He was the owner and operator of Patric Reiley Masonry LLC.  Phil Jones was his mentor and one of his prize projects was helping build the field house at Shafer Stadium.

Patric was a strong member of and served as Elder and Deacon at Davis Street Christian Church, serving on various committees and always striving to do God’s work.  He was also a member of Heartland Bootscooters.  He loved to hunt, fish, ride his motorcycle and spend time with his friends, family,  and especially the grandchildren.

He had served with the U.S. Army.

Surviving is his wife, Ranae; children, Tonya (Jordan) Gaffney of Grundy Center and Ron (Mackenzie) Thomas Jr. of Newton; grandchildren, Brooklyn, Aiden and Declan; his parents, Rev. Stanley and DeAnne Reiley of Ottumwa; a brother, Gerald (Steffanie) Reiley of Omaha, NE; a sister, Kerrie Wig (Brad)  of Litchfield, MN; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Clark Reiley; a grandson, Cameron Gaffney; a niece Anette Headley and grandparents.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. James H. Wakelin officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Sunday with the family  present from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the family for various outreach ministries to be designated at a later date.

FARMINGTON – Owen Samuel Waggoner, the son of Michael and Jennifer Waggoner of Farmington, IA, was born and died September 20, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Surviving are his parents; a brother, Mason; grandparents, Kevin and Michelle Waggoner, Jim and Alicia Peters, Nora Peters; great-grandmothers, Florence Salter and Delores Peters; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Harold and Patricia Waggoner, Charles and Patricia Brown, George Salter and Jim Peters.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, September 24,  at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Elrod officiating.  Burial will be in Westview Cemetery in Kirkville.

OTTUMWA- David Marvin Hopwood, 61, of Urbandale, formerly of Ottumwa, died unexpectedly September 21, 2016 in Des Moines.

He was born December 27, 1954 in Ottumwa to Edgar Elam and Phyllis Geneva Wilson Hopwood.  He married Barb Heston on March 1, 1975 and they had two daughters.  They later divorced.  He married Wendy Thoren on May 27, 2000.

A graduate of Cardinal High School, Dave attended Indian Hills Community College.  He had worked for Al-jon Mfg. for over 25 years. In 2000 he moved to Des Moines and worked for the past 9 years at Merrill Middle School in Des Moines.

Dave was a very hard worker and a devoted father. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife, Wendy; his daughters, Melanie Cribbs of Coralville and Shelby Cain of Floris; step-children, Lee (Sara) Johnson and Andrew Johnson both of Des Moines, Natasha Williams of Urbandale;   grandchildren, Addison and Ethan Cribbs, Karlie, Kellan and Kinley Cain, Sydnie Heneke, Alexander Johnson, Davis Johnson; a sister, Emma (Bob) Lane of Eldon and a brother, Richard Hopwood of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Phyllis and Wilbur Pilcher; his father, Edgar Hopwood; two brothers, Bill McElfish and Jack Hopwood.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor David Albert officiating.  Cremation will follow the services.

Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Betty Jane Black Cubbage age 92 of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Monday, September 26, 2016 at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Albert officiating.  Burial will be in Fell Cemetery south of Libertyville, IA.

Betty was born July 28, 1924 to William J. and Minnie (Stivers) Black three miles south west of West Grove, IA.  She married James “Robert” Cubbage on February 27, 1946 at the Bloomfield Parsonage.  They celebrated 65 years of marriage before he passed away June 1, 2011.

Betty retired from Walmart in 1996 after 10 years of service.  Before that, she and her husband retired from farming.  Betty loved her family very much and enjoyed every minute she would spend with them.  She loved her little dog Spunky also.  She was one of the best cooks around and enjoyed feeding all her family.  Betty will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Betty is survived by her children, Betty Janette Campbell of Batavia, Cora Ruth (Russell) Rippey of Libertyville, Roberta Ann (Randy) Fleig of Fairfield and Harold Robert (Kathy) Cubbage of Libertyville; 6 grandchildren, Robert Campbell, Michelle Campbell, Robyn Rippey, Renea Rippey, Jason Cubbage and Amy Scotton; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; three sisters, Cynthnia (Ivan) Wray of Moravia, IA, Ruth Davis of Ottumwa, IA and Ethel Houser of Cedar Rapids, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cubbage; parents, William and Minnie Black; and one grandson, Jim Mrogenski; and three sisters, Grace Jackson, Mary Ellen Black and Mabel Ellison.

OTTUMWA- Billy M. “Jug” Amos, 92, of Ottumwa, died at 9 p.m. September 24, 2016 at Vista Woods Care Center in Ottumwa.

He was born February 18, 1924 in Ottumwa to Albert Dee and Margaret Walker Amos. He married Frances “Jean” Morris January 25, 1942 in Kirkville, Iowa. She preceded him in death on September 7, 1979. He married Joyce Armstrong in 1982. She preceded him in death March 29, 2013.

A resident of Ottumwa all his life, he attended Franklin School and graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1942. He was a class officer, was very active in high school sports and American Legion Baseball. Bill served in the U.S. Army during World War II.  He served with the 149th Combat Engineer Battalion Special Services Brigade during the invasion of France at Omaha Beach, Normandy and Northern France.  He went to the 17th Armed Division during the Battle of the Bulge.  He served in the ETO from D-Day to Berlin receiving the Silver Star medal.  He also received several other prestigious medals and other citations.

He was an electrician with Iowa Southern Utilities for 37 years in the line department, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, a 60 year member of Ottumwa Masonic Lodge #16 A.F. & A.M. where he was Past Master in 1954 and 2009.  He was a lifetime member of Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.  He was a member of the Ottumwa Men’s Bowling Hall of Fame, Wapello County Historical Society, Civil War Round Table and A-Club as well as a long time member of the Cedar Creek Golf Course and IBEW.

Surviving are his children, Stephen (Terry) Amos of North Charleston, SC, William (Diane) Amos of Santa Rosa, CA, Dee Ann Cocci of Pelican Island, NJ, Ron (Judy) Amos of Ottumwa, and Gigi Tennyson of Marion; 13 grandchildren, Steve (Debra) Amos, Betsy (Scott) Jonas, Matthew Amos, Gregory “Cubby” Amos, Emily Kate Amos, Skip (Kristin) Cocci, Rodney (Stephänie) Cocci , Hallie (Matt) Woodruff, R.J. (Lynette) Amos, Katy (Nate) Gottshalk, Shea (fiancé Shannon Roth) Amos, Kurt (Jill) Tennyson and Kari Tennyson; 19 great-grandchildren; two step-children, Rhonda Smith of Ottumwa and Bob Hanshaw of Niota, IL; a sister, Margaret “Meg” Guiter of Ottumwa; a brother, Frank (Peg) Amos of Ottumwa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Albert Amos.

Masonic services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home. Graveside services and burial will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Richard Schlotter officiating.

Military services will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home.  The family will be present on Friday from noon until the time of the service.

AGENCY-Viola A. Scherer, 99, formerly of Agency, died at 7:38 p.m. September 26, 2016 at Vista Woods Care Center.

She was born March 14, 1917 on the family farm four miles north of What Cheer to Ira and Jenny James.  She married Kenneth Charles Scherer.

A graduate of Thornburg High School, Viola had been a resident of Agency most of her life.  She loved her flowers, gardening, baking and cooking.

Surviving is her husband, Kenneth of Vista Woods Care Center; her children, Diane Locke of Davenport and Rex (BuiNita) Surber of Ottumwa; 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Wilma Snakesburg of Washington, IA.

She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 5 sisters.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating.  Burial will be in the Eldon Cemetery.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday.

OTTUMWA-Wilma Jean King, 88, of 32 Schwartz Dr., died at 12:28 a.m. September 27, 2016 in Ottumwa.

She was born July 23, 1928 in Lovilia, IA to Harlan R. and Edna Mae Netterman McCoy.  She married Veldon D. King on December 21, 1945.

A resident of Ottumwa since 1943, Wilma was a homemaker.  Her family,  grandkids and great-grandkids meant everything to her.  Wilma cherished her home, loved to bake pies, cakes, cookies and make candy.

She was a  60 year member of Davis Street Christian Church.

Surviving is her husband of 70 years, Veldon; a daughter, Vicki (Jim) Agee of Ottumwa; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Michael) Peters of Coal Valley, IL and Nicole (Adam) Carros of Cedar Rapids; three great-grandsons, Derek and Dylan Peters, Jack Carros; and a brother, Harlan McCoy of Ottumwa.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Davis St. Christian Church with Rev. James H. Wakelin officiating.  Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery.

Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday

AGENCY-Lorraine  Leonard Summerfield, 91, formerly of Agency, died at3:25 p.m. September 26, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.

She was born February 22, 1925 in Agency, IA to William and Mary L. Rupe Leonard.

Lorraine had worked at several restaurants as a cook and waitress.

She was a member of Agency United Methodist Church in Agency and American Legion Auxiliary Unit #298 in Marion.

Surviving is a daughter, Susan;  a close niece, Juanita Anderson of Ottumwa; two brothers, Jerry Leonard of Ottumwa and Alfred Leonard of Romney, WV; a sister, Patricia Leonard of Dothan, AL.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Carla and Cheryl; five sisters, Martha Bankson, Dixie Orona, Gladys Wright, Grace Dawson and Mary Stephenson; five brothers, Bill, Jim, Dave John and Frank Leonard.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Finn officiating.  Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 5:00-6:00PM at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville.  There will be no funeral service following the visitation, and cremation will be accorded at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory.  Memorials have been established to the family of Deborah Sue Ferguson and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.  Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com.

OTTUMWA-Elizabeth A. Strawhacker, 38, of Fairfield, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 4:28 p.m. September 30, 2016 at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

She was born July 22, 1978 in Ottumwa to Paul Eugene and Millie Kopp Reaves.  She married Thomas Allen Strawhacker on September 20, 2014.

A resident of Ottumwa most of her life, Beth had attended Ottumwa High School.  She had worked as an assistant manager at Dollar General, a manager at Murphy’s Gas Station, at Wal-Mart as a department manager and at Casey’s in Fairfield.

She loved cooking and cleaning, going on walks, watching movies, loved family time and also loved her dog, Marley, who was her best friend.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas; three children, Lexus, Caine and Koby McCoy; two step-children, Michael and Madison Strawhacker; her parents, Millie (Fred) Vroegh of Eldon and Gene Reaves of Fremont; two sisters, LaVon (Chuck) Seeley of Fremont and Amy (Kenny) Seeley of Eldon; a step-sister, Jamie Vroegh of Monticello; a step-brother, Dustin Vroegh of Cedar Rapids; her mother-in-law, Cindy Strawhacker of Bloomfield; many nieces, nephews, and one great nephew, Finley Reed; a special aunt, Rebecca Hobbs and a very special friend, Bill McCoy of Ottumwa.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, JW and Betty Reaves and Chuck and Liz Kopp.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mike McCoy officiating.  Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 11 a.m. Tuesday with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to her family to benefit her children.

OTTUMWA-Keith D. Korell, 90, of Ottumwa, died at 8:49 p.m. October 2, 2016 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.

He was born September 25, 1926 in Danville, IA to Ray and Grace Fern Brandmeyer Korell.  He married Betty Jane Paris on October 9, 1945 and they later divorced.  He married Margaret Lucille Gray on September 25, 1970 and she preceded him in death on July 3, 1990.

A 1944 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Keith had served with the U.S. Army during World War II.  He lived in Ottumwa until 1971 when he moved to Burlington, returning to Ottumwa in 2014.

He had worked for Iowa Southern Utilities and Electric Union #13 as switchboard operator, lineman and electrician.

He was a member of First Methodist Church in Burlington, a 50 year member of Empire Masonic Lodge #269 A.F. & A.M.,  a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles  Aerie #150, Moose Lodge #579,  American Legion Post #52 and a member of IBEW for 70 years.

Keith enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge and Pinochle.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda Sue Korell Smith of Boise, ID and Connie Lynn Korell (Don) Jones of Ottumwa; 11 grandchildren, Amy Smith (Dale) Brown, Brian (Taniya) Smith, Carrie Smith, Stacy Courtney (Lonny) Matheney, Jeremy (Alicia) Long, Jason (Elizabeth) Long, David (Rose) Anderson, Sarah Anderson (Tony) Aguilar, Sarah Orman (Matthew) Eakins, Jennifer (Jeff) Smart, Donald (Felicia) Jones II;  31 great-grandchildren;  two step-daughters, Lynda Sue (Larry) Anderson of Honolulu, HI and Jane Orman (John) Cardenzana of Ottumwa; nieces, nephews and a special and helpful friend Marjorie “Marge” Breuer of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Don Korell; a sister, Doris Pence; a step-daughter, Lynda Sue Anderson; two great-grandsons, Brandon Smith and Brett Matheney; and  two sons-in-law, Neil Smith and Steve Chandler.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Skinner officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday.  A Masonic service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Timber Ridge Assisted Living.

OTTUMWA-Donald A. Long, 54, of 116 S. Ash St. died October 1, 2016 at his home.

He was born October 12, 1961 in Ottumwa, IA to Earl and Mary Hart Long.

A graduate of Ottumwa High School, he served in the Iowa Army National Guard.  He had worked at Cargill at Eddyville.

Surviving are his daughter, Melanie Shaw of Bloomfield; three grandchildren, Isaac and Drew Cramer and Bryer Graves; his companion of twenty years, Pam Kloppenburg; five brothers, Frank Waddle of New Mexico, Steve Waddle of Montana, Gary, Larry and Jerry Long all of Ottumwa; two sisters, Mary Diane Torres of San Antonio, TX and Barbara Long of Ottumwa.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services and burial will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Eldon Cemetery with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating.

Visitation will begin after 11 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to the family.

LOLA CRADY

OTTUMWA – Lola F. Crady, 92, of Ottumwa, died at 6 a.m. October 1, 2016 at her home.

She was born September 20, 1924 in Queens, NY to Arnold and Frances Ferayorni.  She married Dale Crady on November 19, 1945.  He preceded her in death on July 23, 2004.

Lola moved from Queens, NY to Ottumwa in 1945.  She worked for Bulova watch in New York and helped her husband on the farm north of Ottumwa.

She was a member of St. Mary of the Visitation and was currently a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Surviving is her daughter, Patty Crady of Ottumwa and a sister, Amelia Sczcerbaty of Canyon Country, CA.

She was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Martin Crady and three brothers, Jim, Arnold and Dr. Alex Ferayorni.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Father Patrick Hilgendorf presiding.  Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Tuesday with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
