William “Buster” Brown

William C. “Buster” Brown, 79, of rural Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on April 14, 2025 at the Bloomfield Care Center. He was born on October 17, 1945 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Willis G. and LaRue Brown Brown. He married Jane Bennett on May 27, 1972 at the Open Bible Church in Bloomfield. Jane passed away on August 2, 2006.

Buster attended Fidelity School south of Drakesville, Iowa and graduated from Davis County High School in 1966. He drove a school bus for many years for Davis County Schools. Buster was a police officer for the Bloomfield Police Department for over 27 years before he retired in October 2000. He was an active member of the Open Bible Church in Bloomfield.

He is survived by two nieces, Debbie (Rocky) McSparen, Denise (Mike) Payne both of Bloomfield, and a nephew, Danny (Lisa) Smith of Drakesville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Jerry Lee Smith and her husband, Don Smith; and a foster brother, Chester Funk.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Charles Courtney officiating. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday with the family present to greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to the Davis County Old Soldiers and Settlers Reunion and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
